Description

ON-DEMAND WEBINAR PURCHASE

Presented by: Dr. Leon Kirschner and Jennifer Hensley

A good match for an activity, the environment/context, the student, and the technology can make all of the difference in whether a person with disabilities participates in the activities that make up the school day. The key to success in using technology is ensuring the plan is formulated and executed with the student at the centre of it.

This webinar will provide an overview of team-based and client-centred creation and implementation of a technology plan for students who have more substantial disabilities. Assessment and intervention topics including client-centred practice, the role of the environment/context, interdisciplinary cooperation, plan development and implementation, and of course, assistive technology, will be described and explored.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Be able to identify how assistive technology can be used to provide opportunities for students to participate in academics, leisure, self-care, and mobility within the school environment and beyond.
  2. Be able to demonstrate understanding of how a team approach is necessary to identify, assess, and create interventions that allow students with severe disabilities to participate in school activities.
  3. Feel more comfortable matching task factors, environmental/contextual factors, personal/student factors, and technology.
