POSITION DETAILS

This position involves completing both Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) and Cost of Future Care Assessments (CFC).

FCEs are conducted over 6-8 hours to determine work and activity relevant abilities and limitations. Assessments are funded by a variety of parties representing both plaintiffs and defendants with respect to personal injury, medical malpractice, insurance entitlement and duty to accommodate obligations. Depending on referral objective, workplace based Job Demands Analysis may also be required. CFCs involve assessment in the client’s home environment and case specific research to determine future care needs including equipment, services, therapeutic interventions and personal care requirements as appropriate. FCEs are conducted in our Burnaby or Surrey Guildford offices whereas CFCs may be conducted anywhere in Metro-Vancouver.

The Medical Legal position can also be combined with a community based rehabilitation caseload depending on therapist interest and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Medical legal experience is a strong asset
  • Minimum 3 years OT experience to be considered
  • Experience providing Return to Work Rehabilitation services is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are required
  • Experience working with insurance fee payers (WorkSafeBC, ICBC etc) is an asset
  • Current member of COTBC or registration pending
  • Strong aptitude for report writing and attention to detail is required
