Education and Qualifications:

  • Hold a Baccalaureate or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Must be currently registered to practice Occupational Therapy with good standing in a Canadian province
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT)
  • Must have current child abuse registry and criminal record check

Experience:

  • Two or more year's directly related general clinical experience preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with children preferred
  • Cross cultural awareness and experience
  • Experience working in a school setting considered an asset

Skills and Abilities:    

  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proficiency in the Inuktitut language is an asset
  • Effective oral and written communication, time management, organizational, and problem solving skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team essential.
  • Must have a well-developed understanding of professional responsibility and confidentiality. 

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Occupational Therapist is a part of a multidisciplinary health care team in a cross-cultural setting, providing comprehensive community based services based in Rankin Inlet with regular clinical visits to three of the six communities in the Kivalliq region.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision, be self-directed and prioritize own work.
  • Must be able to work in a remote setting with limited resources available.

 

  • The OT and Therapy Services Team Leader position:
    • a leadership role in the supervision of the clerk interpreter;
    • representation of the Therapy Services team (physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology) on a multidisciplinary team;
    • on-site clinical orientation to new staff and students; and
    • assessment of department needs and on-site leader in the implementation of program initiatives.

 

We offer a complete benefits package including medical, dental and pension benefits, as well as relocation assistance. Salary range is from $99,743 to $113,159 per annum, as well as a northern living allowance and a generous continuing education allowance.  Subsidized housing is also available.
