Reporting to the Manager – Forensic Mental Health Services, you will be responsible for providing various assessment screening tools and executing treatment of clients (inpatient and outpatient) who have involvement with both the Criminal Justice system and the Mental Health system. As part of a multidisciplinary health care team, you will practice within the Standards of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario. TBRHSC is an academic health sciences centre that provides care within a Patient and Family Centred model.
Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
2 years recent experience working with patients within a mental health setting (preference given to Forensic experience)
Competent in assessment skills and group programming
Demonstrated ability to create relevant and succinct reports based on assessment data
Competent in executing treatment plans based on psycho‑educational, cognitive, cognitivebehavioural and task oriented approaches
Sensitivity to the needs of patients with mental health, developmental disabilities and/or emotional difficulties
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to work effectively with other disciplines
Maintaining a working knowledge of best practices for the delivery of care and service
Proficiency keyboarding and the use of computer applications to support work processes ‑ Internet, GroupWise email and Microsoft Word are essential
Knowledge of the philosophy and values of Patient and Family Centred Care with demonstrated ability to incorporate into all aspects of practice and teamwork
Non Violent Crisis Intervention Training Course
Current valid driver's license
