The Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists is currently recruiting for the position of Policy Analyst. This position is part-time and for a one (1) year term.

Under the direction of the Director of Government Affairs and Policy, the Policy Analyst is responsible for the research and identification of issues or policy areas to explore and develop. Working within the established guiding principles, policies, procedures and financial guidelines of the Association, the Policy Analyst monitors, researches and analyzes domestic and international sources on health and social policies, programs, services, initiatives and human resources development for the purpose of influencing public policy decisions, advocating for access to occupational therapy services and demonstrating the value proposition of occupational therapy interventions.


Required Qualifications:

  • Research and policy analysis experience in the non-governmental and/or public sector;
  • Bachelor degree in political science, public administration, international relations or related area;
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in related field;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills;
  • Experience in writing briefs and reports;
  • Excellent information management skills;
  • Excellent critical thinking skills;
  • Experience with MS Office Standard (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Bilingual (English/French) or willingness to become bilingual.



Recommended Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of occupational therapy;
  • Experience with volunteer intensive service operations;
  • Understanding of the health care environment and professional regulations.

  • Ability to collect and analyze information using critical thinking, report the findings and proposes new policies.
