Register online by May 25, 2017 - 6/1/2017

Presenter: Jenny Ziviani

The word motivation appears frequently in occupational therapy literature and has been used to help explain therapy outcomes. For therapists working with young people, children and families, involvement in the therapeutic process, is an important but poorly understood component of effective service delivery. Self-Determination Theory (SDT) is a theory that provides sound evidence of the key ingredients which will enhance individual’s motivation in therapy. How this can be applied in occupational therapy practice will be the focus of this webinar.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will:

1. Be able to describe the elements of a self-determination theory as a motivational framework.
2. Be able to unpack the key motivational ingredients in a range of occupational therapy interventions.
