CAOT New National Blueprint: Directions to enable safety, health and well-being for drivers with arthritis
Register by May 30th, 2017 - 6/01/2017

Presenters: Julie Lapointe, Tamalea Stone and Janet M. Craik

Arthritis affects over 4.6 million Canadians of all ages, many of whom rely on driving – for work, leisure or completion of other everyday activities. A new National Blueprint for Injury Prevention in Drivers with Arthritis (Blueprint) has been launched by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) to address the specific unmet needs of drivers with arthritis. The Blueprint will provide direction to healthcare professionals, researchers, educators and decision makers regarding actions to promote safe driving practices and injury prevention among this at-risk group.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will:

  1. Identify factors that may cause people with musculoskeletal conditions and arthritis to avoid disclosing their difficulties with the activity of driving.
  2. Be able to determine the concrete actions they can lead to support drivers with musculoskeletal conditions.
