Using the Recovery Assessment Scale – Domains and Stages (RAS-DS) to assist people to drive and witness their own mental health recovery

Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 3: 00 PM ET

Presenter: Dr Nicola Hancock

Mental health recovery instruments to-date have limited psychometric testing and also lack focus upon the ‘doing’ and ‘belonging’ aspects that occupational therapists highlight and consumers report as critical. The RAS-DS is an evidence-based, self-report tool developed by occupational therapists in partnership with consumer researchers. It covers the multiple domains and stages of recovery that consumers highlight. With this tool and supporting website (www.ras-ds.net.au) occupational therapists can better enable consumers to chart and understand their own recovery journey, witness the progress they have achieved and set future goals. The webinar will focus on using the tool to enhance recovery-oriented practice.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will:

  1. Have a good understanding of the RAS-DS and the experiences of consumers using the tool.
  2. Be able to administer and score the RAS-DS.
  3. Know how to use the RAS-DS and associated tools to enhance recovery-oriented practice.
