Integrating assistive technology for clients with low vision to facilitate their occupational participation

Webinar: August 27, 2024 - 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)

Registration by 11:59 a.m. (Eastern Time) on August 27, 2024

Presented by: Yu-Pin Hsu, OTR/L, EdD and Bryan Wolynski, OD, FAAO

Technology is an important part of daily life and has been created or made accessible to assist people with low vision in participating in their everyday occupations (e.g., Akkara & Kuriakose, 2019; McGrath & Corrado, 2019). Occupational therapists can facilitate the occupational participation of clients with low vision by using various technologies.

The webinar will demonstrate selected assistive devices and applications that occupational therapists can incorporate into their therapy to facilitate the occupational participation of their clients with low vision. Case studies and strategies will be discussed as well as various low vision smartphone apps readily available for daily use.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe current vision technology devices.
  2. Share various low vision applications on smartphones and tablets to facilitate the occupational participation of clients with low vision.
