Creating your leadership toolkit

Online

Thursday, June 20 & Friday, June 21, 2024
12:00 - 3:15 p.m. (Eastern Time)

What time is this for me?

The development of leadership skills in health professions and interprofessional teams supports greater outcomes in the health care system (e.g., Clarke, 2015; Leach et al., 2021; Sfantou et al., 2017).  As such, incorporation of leadership development into both entry-level health professional training and ongoing leadership development activities is needed (van Diggele et al., 2020).  More than ever, Canadian occupational therapists are poised to explore leadership roles and would benefit from skill development to feel more confident in their roles.

This workshop will provide an opportunity for occupational therapy professionals in or interested in formal management activities to reflect upon the skills and tools they need to be successful in management positions. Best practice and tools required to manage teams will be discussed. Topics discussed include self-awareness, conflict resolutions, innovation, performance management, burnout, feedback, managing multigenerational teams, and team dynamics. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on what tools they need to lead, build their own unique leadership toolkits, and engage in discussions.
