Webinar: September 3, 2024 - 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)

Registration by 11:59 a.m. (Eastern Time) on September 3, 2024

Presented by: Franklin Stein, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA

It is critical for occupational therapists who work in geriatrics to have a holistic perception of increasing and maintaining function and preventing physical, psychological, and cognitive decline. Evidence-based practice in geriatrics requires that the occupational therapist incorporates current research into practice.

This webinar within an occupational therapy biopsychosocial model presents the major factors in healthy aging such as prescriptive exercise, balanced diet, stress management, purposeful occupation, and meaningful living. Self-regulation and homeostasis are presented as key concepts underlying healthy aging. Factors in fall prevention, cognitive stimulation, and spirituality will also be examined.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the concept of internal and external self-regulation and homeostasis as applied to healthy aging.
  2. Incorporate concepts of healthy aging into occupational therapy practice.
  3. Examine threats to healthy aging such as falls, cognitive decline, and spiritual malaise.
