"Falls are the No. 1 reason for injury-related hospitalizations for older adults and in Canada, more than 1.6 million seniors fall each year" (Parachute, 2020). Occupational therapists can help prevent falls in older adults by being familiar with risk factors that contribute to falling and basic strategies to reduce risk factors and promote functional independence.
This webinar will provide an in-depth look at the prevalence of falls and the importance of community-based fall prevention programming. Participants will learn about the development and implementation of a successful community program, explore how to plan, partner, and promote fall prevention programming within the community, and discuss opportunities and resources to support personal and professional growth in community-based occupational therapy practice.
