Description

ON-DEMAND WEBINAR PURCHASE

Presented by: Becky Moran, OT Reg. (Ont.)

People who have experienced concussion are seeking treatment more and more.  It is important for occupational therapists to have the knowledge and skill base needed to guide, coach, provide therapy, and treat clients that is effective for recovery.

In the webinar "Innovative Pacing and Planning Techniques Following Concussion/Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI)" (presented with CAOT in June 2018), the importance of pacing and planning following concussion/mTBI and basic concepts and strategies were discussed, including using a points-based system to help build tolerance for activities again. This webinar is building upon those pacing and planning principles, including: advanced pacing points (how to adjust and build upon the points), dealing with noise sensitivity, helping clients navigate larger social functions and other life activities that can be a challenge.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Deepen understanding of pacing and planning, and how to use the 'pacing points' to increase activities and return to function after concussion/mTBI.
  2. Assist clients with managing noise sensitivities, using both compensatory techniques and remediation.
  3. Guide and coach clients on the best way to return to social activities/events, and slowly build tolerance for busier environments outside the home and other organizational 'life hacks' to help with recovery.
