PREP 101: A Participation Intervention Approach for Occupational Therapists

PREP 101: A Participation Intervention Approach for Occupational Therapists

Pathways and Resources for Engagement and Participation (PREP) is a novel, evidence-based, skills-focused approach aimed at enhancing participation by modifying the environment. Developed for use by occupational therapists, PREP involves collaboration with the client, family and service providers to identify and remove environmental barriers, while building supports to enhance participation in activities of choice. During this webinar, participants will be introduced to the core elements of the PREP approach and its effectiveness as well as explore specific intervention strategies for improving participation through case studies. Practical resources to support use of PREP in occupational therapy practice will be shared.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will:

  1. Describe the rationale for and the benefits of environment-focused interventions.
  2. Understand the five steps involved in PREP: Pathways and Resources for Engagement and Participation.
Be aware of resources available to support the use of PREP and feel confident in implementing this approach in occupational therapy practice.
