Smart Rehab is recruiting an Occupational Therapist to join our team in Kamloops, BC. Our city is known for being a four season adventure playground. Summers are long and warm, April to November is ideal for hiking, biking, fishing and paddling the hundreds of lakes and rivers within an hour drive. December to March we have world class downhill and cross country trails. The cost of living is some of the lowest in the province and our food/drink scene is full of flavor and life.
This community based position involves a variety of practice areas that can leverage your past experience and develop your skills in new areas of practice. Areas of practice include: Residential Care (wheelchairs, seating, wound management, mobility assessments), Home Assessments (equipment, home support and attendant care needs), Cognitive Rehabilitation (increase client independence in home and community settings), Community Integration (community integration and graduated activity programs to increase physical tolerances), and Rehabilitation Case Management (facilitate client access to appropriate health services and return to work planning. Primary health populations include Brain Injury, Complex Orthopedics, Chronic Pain and Mental Health). As this position is community based private-practice, experience working with multiple funders— health authorities, private insurers, government agencies, law firms — is an asset
You will be working in conjunction with a team of Health Care Professionals: Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, Rehabilitation Assistants, Massage Therapy, Counselling, Dieticians.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
Strong understanding of rehabilitation after catastrophic and non-major injuries.
Ability to assess, design, monitor and progress rehabilitation program.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Motivated, reliable and compassionate.
Commitment to continuous learning through professional development courses.
Coachable – open to feedback and actively engaged in a professional growth plan.
Registration with the appropriate occupational therapy regulatory organization - COTBC
Preference given to those with past experience working in: a private practice multi-disciplinary setting or residential care setting.
Experience working with insurance fee payers is an asset.
Hold a valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle. Travel is a mandatory part of this position.
