Your role and responsibilities:

  • Patient Care and Rehabilitation:
    • Assessing patients' physical and functional status for rehabilitation potential.
    • Modifying home and workplace environments for accessibility.
    • Providing adaptive equipment and mobility training.
    • Developing and monitoring personalized rehabilitation plans.
    • Advocating for patients with external agencies.

  • Consultation and Education:
    • Advising and educating healthcare staff on occupational therapy techniques and adaptive equipment.
    • Conducting educational sessions on rehabilitation, activities of daily living (ADL), and safety.

  • Liaison and Coordination:
    • Maintaining communication with community groups, agencies, and healthcare professionals.
    • Collaborating with local hospitals and functioning within multidisciplinary teams.
    • Assisting in the development of educational materials for community rehabilitation services.

  • Resource Planning and Development:
    • Identifying community needs and available services.
    • Keeping informed about new agencies, programs, and equipment relevant to rehabilitation.
    • Recommending strategies to address unmet community needs.

  • Quality Assurance and Evaluation:
    • Participating in quality assurance standards development.
    • Collecting and maintaining data for quality assurance reviews.
    • Evaluating rehabilitation services and documenting outcomes.

  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Maintaining program statistics and data reporting.
    • Participating in committees and projects to support program development and evaluation.
    • Completing Long Term Care assessments and other documentation as required.

What you need to apply:

  • Graduation from a recognized university program in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).
  • Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT).
  • Minimum two (2) years' post-graduate experience in Occupational Therapy or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Class 5 driver's license - daily travel required.
  • Community experience preferred.
