Managing Director of CAOT-Qc

France The responsibility of the managing director include:

        • the analysis of issues which impact on occupational therapy practice in Quebec, and
        • the supervision, planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the organization's activities implemented to meet the strategic priorities of the CAOT-Qc.

France Verville is the Director of the Quebec Chapter of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists since the summer of 2016. She graduated from Laval University's occupational therapy program in 1982 and received her Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from the Université de Sherbrooke in 1992. She has shared her professional activities in the private and public sectors with different clienteles. She was a pioneer of local community service centres (CLSCs) in remote areas. She has been involved in regional working tables and the implementation of home care programs in three regions of Quebec.

France has been involved in community advocacy since the beginning of her practice. In 1988, she was the first occupational therapist to testify in the Quebec Superior Court. Since then, she has acted in court as an expert occupational therapist witness, both as plaintiff and defendant, in more than 200 civil and medical liability lawsuits. She was also one of the first occupational therapists to testify before the Tribunal administratif du Québec (TAQ) and the Commission des lésions professionnelles (CLP). She has taken an interest in the quality of writing occupational therapy reports in a legal context. On this subject, she is a university teacher and lecturer and is involved in continuing education at the Ordre des ergothérapeutes du Québec (OEQ).

I am motivated and interested in starting the Quebec Chapter of the CAOT and working closely with members on advocacy, lobbying and promotion activities in this current context of change in organizations and their environment. »


Chair of the CAOT-Qc Advisory Committee

Martine The Chair of the CAOT-Qc Advisory Committee is responsible for:

        • the development and management of Advisory Committee meetings
        • reporting on the business of the Advisory Committee to the CAOT Board of Directors, and
        • representing CAOT at events and functions in the province, as required.

Nathalie Veillette is an associate professor at the École de réadaptation de l'Université de Montréal, as well as a researcher at the Research Centre of the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal (CRIUGM). She has dual training in psychology (master's degree in neuropsychology) and occupational therapy, as well as a doctorate in biomedical sciences from the Université de Montréal. Since 1996, prior to her university career, her practice as an occupational therapist-clinician has led her to work in acute care hospitals as well as in community settings. Through these various experiences, she has specialized in cognitive function evaluation and in the practice of occupational therapy in the emergency room. Her research work places great importance on the transfer of scientific knowledge to the users of this knowledge in order to contribute to more effective health services.
