In Canada, the number of research-stream trainees involved in occupation-based research is growing; this includes thesis-based MSc, PhD, and post-doctoral fellow trainees. Currently there are limited national networking opportunities for research-stream trainees involved in occupation-based research. Research activities are optimized when investigators with varied perspectives and training backgrounds collaborate. Forming a national (Canadian) research-stream trainee network can enable collaboration and shared learning; this would strengthen the future of occupation-based research activities influencing the lives of Canadians.
This initial open meeting will gauge interest in the development of an occupation-focused research-stream trainee network and discuss possible group objectives, formats, and opportunities.
