Register by Friday, February 21, 2020 at 10:59 a.m. (Eastern time)

Presenters: Candace Hawthorne & Nicole Orlando

Addressing behavioural concerns for both caregiver and child strengthens positive interactions in families and replaces picky and/or selective feeding patterns interactions. This webinar will address the effective incorporation of behaviour principles into occupational therapy interventions to support meaningful engagement and performance for caregiver and children’s mealtime functioning.

This webinar will briefly review behavioural interventions to address the development of behavioral resistance in children and parents. A case study of picky or selective feeding will be presented to identify the behavioural concerns and to build an intervention plan using behavioural strategies.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Recognize strategies for incorporating behavioural principles to the assessment and intervention process.
  2. Identify two ways to strengthen ability to incorporate parents in interventions by modifying environment and interactions.
  3. Apply a problem-based approach to a case using behavioural strategies to create an intervention plan that meaningfully supports the role performance of caregivers and children.
