Description: The current COVID-19 crisis has substantial implications for people living with chronic pain including a lack of access to hands on treatments, increased stress and anxiety levels as well as disrupted daily routines.

Join naturopathic doctor Dr. Brittany Schamerhorn, registered clinical counsellor Ernest Chen, and occupational therapist and Practice Network chair Kat Dikeakos for an interdisciplinary discussion and case study review to address mental health concerns in the context of complex and persistent pain.

Presenters:

Dr. Brittany Schamerhorn is a naturopathic physician working in the Kitsilano area of Vancouver as well as the Ladner area of Delta in BC. Her practice is focused on energy and stress management, helping patients feeling more energized and resilient. In addition, she supports many patients with digestive and hormonal concerns. She uses natural-based modalities to create attainable and effective treatment plans that meet the patient's needs and lifestyles. Dr. Schamerhorn was awarded the Clinical Excellence Award from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, recognizing her commitment and excellence in patient care. She continues to expand her education regularly through collaboration with other health care providers in addition to conferences, webinars, etc.

Ernest Chen is a bilingual Registered Clinical Counsellor of Willful Minds Counselling Services Inc. Ernest holds a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from Adler University, Vancouver. In addition, he has his certifications in Observed and Experiential Integration, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Clinical Hypnosis (Hypnotherapy), Critical Incident Stress Management, and Existential Analysis. Along with individual and couples counselling, he has debriefed individuals and groups after traumatic incidents and provides psycho-education to the general public, sharing information about mental health. In 2017 he received the award for Excellence in Counselling from the CCPA after helping thousands of clients annually. Outside of the therapeutic room, he volunteers with the community such as the Canadian Red Cross, ALS Society, and the BC Disaster Psychosocial Services.
