Presenter: Rebecca Spokes

Writing is an important life skill required for the occupational role of a student. Traditionally, handwriting was the primary tool used to produce written work. However, over the past decade there has been a significant shift towards the use of keyboarding, especially for those children that find handwriting challenging. This webinar will explore the complexities of the writing process and the role that handwriting and keyboarding play in written expression. Providing an overview of the development of handwriting/keyboarding and the current practices for instruction, the webinar will provide therapists with an understanding of how to support students who are
experiencing difficulties with handwriting.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will:

1. Understand the process of writing and the role of handwriting/keyboarding in written expression.
2. Understand how handwriting and keyboarding skills develop and the current practices on handwriting/keyboarding instruction.
3. Be able to identify strategies to support students who are experiencing difficulties with handwriting.
