Rehabilitation of the proximal interphalangeal joint: An evidence-based approach

Register by Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at 10:59 a.m. (Eastern time)

Presenter: Kristin Valdes

Injuries to the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint can be difficult to treat and can lead to joint deformities if not managed correctly. This webinar will describe the PIP joint anatomy and relevant structures to consider when providing interventions for people with PIP joint injuries. Orthoses, early active motion and resistive exercises can all be judicially applied to improve joint motion and tendon excursion.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Prescribe the correct dosage of orthotic intervention for PIP joint contractures.
  2. Determine the appropriate position for tissue healing and contracture prevention.
  3. Ascertain and determine if the central slip is injured.
