Description:

This session will:

  • Define anxiety – specifically driving anxiety and associated behaviours
  • Review the AHS/CAOT algorithm for providing safe participation in driving
  • Introduce treatment options for mild, moderate and sever levels of driving anxiety
  • Review of resources
  • Review service access and the referral process

Presenter: Maureen Woodward has been a community-based private practice OT since 2005, primarily working with individuals with traumatic brain injury.

In September 2015 she set up the Comprehensive Driver Evaluation and Rehabilitation program, where she assesses the fitness to drive and establishes rehabilitation programs for individuals who have been diagnosed with traumatic or acquired brain injury, as well as reduced vision, chronic pain, anxiety, amputation and development disabilities.

Maureen is the Driving Rehab Coordinator at JR Rehab Services Inc. and also a Clinical Instructor, Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, Faculty of Medicine, The University of British Columbia.  She completed her Graduate Certificate of Driving Rehabilitation from McGill University in 2016.
