Enabling Occupation, the sequel

Engagement session 1: Characterizing the concept of 'relationship' in occupational therapy

June 17, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)

Please join us for this first of two information and dialogue sessions about the sequel to Enabling Occupation. In this first session we invite the occupational therapy community to join co-editors, Gayle Restall and Mary Egan, along with members of the advisory panel, for reflection and discussion about how we characterize relationship in occupational therapy. Since Occupational Therapy Guidelines for Client-Centred Practice was published in 1983, Canadian occupational therapy has been characterized as client-centred practice. Although occupational therapists hold fast to the values and tenets of client-centredness, the term may now fail to adequately recognize the complexities of context, current practice and the contribution of relationship to the work of occupational therapists.  During this session you will hear about proposed changes to characterizing practice. We will gather your input in virtual breakout rooms to help inform content decisions for the next edition of our foundational text.

*Please note that we will include a French-language breakout room for members who wish to provide their reflections en français, however the main session will be in English. If you are interested in the French breakout room please choose this option during your registration*
