Concussion and persistent symptoms are becoming a growing health concern. In the past, management of symptoms were more focused on prolonged rest. However, newer approaches to symptom management emphasize the importance of gradual return to activity while carefully monitoring symptoms. Since occupational therapists are adept at facilitating return to meaningful activity, occupational therapists can offer very valuable and relevant services to individuals with persistent post concussive symptoms. This webinar will provide valuable content that effectively prepares occupational therapists to perform a comprehensive assessment that covers the multiples domains that may be affected by persistent post concussive symptoms.
This webinar will discuss the impact of concussion and persistent symptoms on occupational performance. The webinar will cover a comprehensive assessment approach that considers the many factors that may affect occupational performance including visual impairments, cognitive impairments, sleep disturbances, psychosocial issues, and sensory symptoms. The emphasis of the webinar will be on identifying factors that limit meaningful participation in occupational performance in order to develop effective intervention plans.
After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to: 1. Effectively synthesize factors that limit participation in occupation as a result of concussion. 2. Select and apply clinical assessments that are relevant and applicable to the client who is experiencing persistent post concussive symptoms
