This training is suitable for: Occupational Therapists, Mental Health Professionals:  Psychotherapists, Counsellors, Psychologists and Social Workers
This training will be relevant for occupational therapists who encounter clients who have experienced psychological trauma, especially in the context of work. 


Description:
This workshop will explore the nature and prevalence of trauma and resulting impacts, introduce and utilize the Occupational Therapy Trauma Intervention Framework (OTTIF), and present holistic practice methods that include families and support networks. The workshop will use both small and large group learning methods, and participants will have the opportunity to discuss and share their own practice experiences.  

Learning Objectives: 
  • Develop a working knowledge of trauma and its impact on daily life;
  • Increase understanding of the exposures of first responders, military personnel and Veterans;
  • Utilize the evidence informed Occupational Therapy Trauma Intervention Framework (OTTIF);
  • Expand consideration of the impact of trauma and families and support networks;
  • Explore opportunities for growth in occupational therapy practice.
