CAOT Workshop Proposal

We are currently accepting proposals for workshops for 2024 and 2025. In-depth information that supports Canadian occupational therapy professionals in providing evidence-informed services to promote the occupational participation of individuals and collectives (families, groups, communities, populations) can be presented as:

  • Workshops: In-depth practical resources and information offered as synchronous half-day, one-day, two half-day or two-day options. Learning modalities include live Q&A, small group case study discussions, role-playing skills, and an optional pre-recorded lecture to cover background/theoretical information.
  • Hybrid workshops: Alternate asynchronous learning on background/theoretical information with synchronous practical sessions (1.5-3 hours in length) to apply the learning. Learning modalities include pre-recorded lectures, readings, activities to complete on your own, reflection exercises, live Q&A, small group case study discussions, and role-playing skills.

Please ensure your planned presentation would meet the qualification criteria prior to completing the proposal form:

  • The professional development activity must include evidence-informed, occupation-based, and practical resources and information that support the occupational therapy community in taking steps towards meeting the Competencies for Occupational Therapists in Canada (ACOTRO et al., 2021).
  • The learning objectives of the presentation relate to occupational therapy scope of practice.
  • The sources throughout the proposal and the presentation must be cited using APA Style (7th edition), including when quoting verbatim from a source, when paraphrasing or summarizing ideas from a source, when citing assessments, and by crediting image/video sources.
  • In accordance with the CAOT Style Guide, please write out all abbreviations the first time they are used (including 'occupational therapy' and 'occupational therapist'), use Canadian spelling, and use bias-free, non-judgmental and inclusive language consistent with collaborative relationship-focused occupational therapy.
  • No product/service/company is promoted.
As part of this proposal form, you will need to provide contact information and biographies for presenters; the proposed title, format, and length of the professional development activity; a brief description explaining the relevance to occupational therapists and what topics you will cover; selected key references to support that the proposal is evidence-informed; a preliminary agenda; learning objectives; as well as answer multiple choice questions about your target audience. If you have any questions, please contact education@caot.ca.
