We have Occupational Therapy OPPORTUNITIES available as follows:

  • Community Health Services Centre (Kelowna) – Relief full time opportunity on the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team. The occupational therapist in this role will provide comprehensive, community-based psychiatric treatment, rehabilitation, and support to persons with serious and persistent mental illness such as schizophrenia. Among the services ACT teams provide are: case management, initial and ongoing assessments; psychiatric services; employment and housing assistance; family support and education; substance abuse services. Position is temporary until the return of the incumbent.
  • Ponderosa Lodge (Kamloops)– Casual positions with focus on Home Health. Duties consist of Equipment assessment, dysphagia management ADL/IADL assessments, and Cog screening. Multidisciplinary team of Physical Therapist, Rehab Assistants, Registered Dietitian, Social Work, Nursing staff, and Recreation Therapy staff.
  • Royal Inland Hospital (Kamloops) – Casual positions with focus on Acute care. Services/Programs offered include inpatients and outpatients, stroke unit, rehab unit, hand therapy program, and acute mental health. Role includes working with the client to identify and assess occupational performance issues, implement occupational therapy services to meet identified client goals, evaluate success and make adjustments as required. This role also involves participating in team/program activities required to enhance delivery of care as well as participating on committees and approved research and special projects.
  • Overlander Extended Care Facility (Kamloops) – Casual position with a focus on assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, consultation, equipment prescription and education of residents/clients/patients and/or their caregivers to promote functional independence and enable the client to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes. Longest standing long term care facility in Kamloops.
  • East Kootenay Opportunities: We have 2 relief part time opportunities in Cranbrook. The first is a relief 0.20 ABI position based out of Rocky Mountain Lodge (adjacent to East Kootenay Regional Hospital); this position travels to sites throughout the East Kootenay Health Service Area. The second relief is a 0.40 Acute position based out of the East Kootenay Regional Hospital and includes cognitive assessments, swallowing assessments, working with stroke clients and some out-patient service. We also have a permanent part time 0.34 combined residential/community position based out of Kimberly Health Centre and Kimberley Special Care Home. Ideally, a strong candidate with experience in acute, residential and community could assume all three of these roles.
