Yes! Occupational therapy professionals who are not CAOT Members, as well as other professionals, may register for CAOT professional development activities. Given that CAOT members receive discounts on registration fees, it may be more cost effective to become a Member or Associate, especially if you are considering registering for more than one CAOT professional development activity.  Join CAOT now!

Yes! Our professional development activities are open to other professionals, clients, and care partners. Please consult the “Target Audience” section of individual registration pages for more information on suggested applicability.  
CAOT professional development activities are offered in the language in which they are advertised. Auto-generated, auto-translated captioning is available to live attendees of synchronous professional development offerings.
Payment options are by Visa or MasterCard credit cards or, for people within Canada, payment by Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) to finance@caot.ca. Please contact education@caot.ca to confirm registration fees before sending EFT.

Webinar

Yes! Webinars are recorded. As of September 28, 2023, new purchases of individual On-Demand Practice Evidence Webinars are available to access on My Dashboard on CAOT's learning management system (LMS), using your usual CAOT My Account login information.


If you registered for an upcoming Practice Evidence Webinar or purchased a group On-Demand Practice Evidence Webinar, the recording access is available under “My Webinars” in the “My Professional Development” section of your “My Account”. Free webinars recordings are available on the CAOT Website under Free Webinars.
Group registration is available for institutions, employers or colleagues for up to 25 participants of the same organization to have access to the webinar, both live and on demand. Each member of the group may watch from their own device. If your group is larger than 25 people, please contact education@caot.ca prior to registering.

If you purchased a Value Choice: Annual Bundle, you can redeem the webinar credits on the any upcoming Practice Evidence Webinars and the On-Demand Practice Evidence Webinars in the CAOT Store that take place between your date of purchase and one year following purchase. If you purchased a Ready-for-Work bundle or a Maximum Choice: Custom Bundle, you can redeem the webinar credits on any On-Demand Practice Evidence Webinar in the CAOT Store or on any upcoming Practice Evidence Webinar up until the expiration of your bundle credits. Please note that you may only redeem webinars credits on webinars, not workshops.

To register for an upcoming Practice Evidence Webinar using credits:

  1. Browse the Upcoming Webinars.
  2. Select "Click to Register" on the webpage for the webinar you would like to register for.
  3. "Log in to register" using your CAOT username and password.
  4. Select "Individual credit use" or "Group credit use" in the registration fee options to register using credits.

To purchase an On-Demand Practice Evidence Webinar using credits:

  1. Visit the list of On-Demand Practice Evidence Webinars.
  2. Once you select your webinar, "Add to cart".
  3. From your "Shopping cart", the On-Demand Practice Evidence Webinar should cost $0 as long as you are logged in and have sufficient credits remaining in your Account.
  4. "Proceed to checkout". Confirm your personal details then select "Next".
  5. Your purchase has been successfully completed when you receive a receipt and access information by email.

You will have access to the On-Demand Webinar for a period of one year or until the webinar expiry date, whichever is sooner. The webinar expiry date is listed in the CAOT Store prior to purchase.

Approximately 6 days prior to the webinar, an email is sent which includes the login details. Webinar handouts will be included in the reminder email the day of the webinar. If you have not received the login details in this time frame, please check your junk or spam mail and ensure education@caot.ca is added to your safe senders list.
For Practice Evidence Webinars, fillable certificates of attendance for Practice Evidence Webinars will be uploaded to your CAOT My Account along with the handouts and recording within 3 business days of the webinar. These can be filled with you name and the date you attended. If you are registered for a webinar as part of a group, please contact your group administrator for the links. 
Yes! Practice Evidence Webinars are recorded and access to the recording is sent to registrants within three business days, pending exceptional technical difficulties.
For Practice Evidence Webinars, all cancellation/refund requests must be sent in writing to education@caot.ca. Cancellation requests received at least one week prior to the webinar will be given a 50% refund. CAOT will not provide a refund six days or less prior to the webinar. If you are unable to attend the webinar live, all webinars are recorded and registrants receive access to the recording following the webinar within three business days, pending exceptional technical difficulties.

CAOT reserves the right to cancel or modify all events. If a Practice Evidence Webinar is cancelled by CAOT, you will receive an adjustment on your bundle (if credits were used) or a full refund. 
The registration deadline is one hour prior to the start of the webinar. After this time, you may purchase the recording of the On-Demand Practice Evidence Webinar, which will be available in the CAOT Store typically within two weeks of the webinar.

Workshop

Workshop provide in-depth practical resources and information in synchronous half-day, one-day, two half-day or two-day options. Learning modalities include live Q&A, small group case study discussions, role-playing skills, and an optional pre-recorded lecture to cover background/theoretical information.

In contrast, online courses are fully asynchronous. Learning modalities include recorded lectures, recorded demonstrations, quizzes, activities to complete, discussion forum, and Q&A forum.
No. Webinar credits, which you can see in your “My Account” under “My Professional Development”, can only be used towards  registration/purchase of Practice Evidence Webinars that take place on or before the expiration date of the credits.  
Online workshops are recorded. Registrants of the workshop will receive access to the recording one business day following the workshop (i.e., typically the following Monday) for a two-week period. Please note that group activities such as those in breakout rooms are not included in the raw recording of workshops. The workshop recordings are not sold separately.
You can still register for a workshop if you are unavailable to attend live. Online workshops are recorded. Registrants of the workshop will receive access to the recording one business day following the workshop (i.e., typically the following Monday) for a two-week period. As a result, you can watch the workshop recording at any point during this two-week period. Please note that group activities such as those in breakout rooms are not included in the raw recording of workshops.

If you forgot your username or password for CAOT's My Account, you may reset them using this link.

We suggest downloading a copy of the workshop handouts for future reference. CAOT uses the Zoom platform for our synchronous workshops and webinars. To ensure a pleasant experience with your Zoom Meeting, we highly encourage individuals to download and install the Zoom Application beforehand:

  • This application will automatically download when you start your first Zoom Meeting. Go to  https://zoom.us/download and from the Download Center,  click on the  Download button under “Zoom Client For Meetings”.
  • Once the download is complete,  proceed with  installing the Zoom application onto your computer.
  • Test with a Zoom test meeting:  https://zoom.us/test 
It is also recommended that you download a copy of the workshop handouts prior to the start of the workshop. Reviewing the materials ahead of time can help you identify learning goals, familiarize yourself with the workshop agenda, and prepare questions.
Certificates of attendance for workshops will be provided immediately following completion of the feedback survey by selecting the workshop on My Dashboard on CAOT's learning management system (LMS), using your CAOT My Account login information. Please ensure to download this certificate for your records before workshop access closes.
Pending sufficient space, CAOT offers late registration for workshops at the regular rate plus a $50+tax administration fee. Late registrations can be completed through the listing of Upcoming Events.
All cancellation/refund requests must be sent in writing to education@caot.ca. Specific cancellation policies including dates are found towards the bottom of the webpages for each workshop.

If the workshop is cancelled by CAOT, registrants will receive a full refund of the registration fee. CAOT will not be responsible for other costs or expenses incurred by registrants as a result of any such changes. 



Online Course

Online courses are fully asynchronous professional development that provide in-depth resources and information to support the occupational therapy community in providing evidence-informed services to promote the occupational participation of individuals and collectives.  Learning modalities include recorded lectures, recorded demonstrations, quizzes, activities to complete, discussion forum, Q&A forum. Online courses range in length from 3 to 15 hours in length, to be completed on your own and at your own pace within 90 days of purchasing course.

  1. Browse the available online courses in the Catalogue.
  2. Log in using the same username and password as you use on the CAOT website.
  3. Select Register for the online course that you wish to register for.
  4. You will then be automatically directed to that product in the CAOT Store. Add to Cart then complete purchase on the CAOT website.
  5. Once you complete purchase, navigate to My Dashboard at education.caot.ca to access immediately.

No. Each person completing the course must register individually using their own account in their own name. Upon completion of the online course, the certificate of completion will be automatically generated in the name of the registrant and this course will appear on their transcript.
Online course registration includes electronic access to all course materials for a 90-day period, downloadable handouts, opportunity to ask questions, and an electronic certificate of completion.
Online course handouts, including reference lists, are downloadable. The following types of course materials may not be downloaded: lecture recordings, video files, audio files, or resources that the presenter and CAOT don't have permission to distribute.
Certificates of completion will be available immediately upon completion of the feedback survey for the course.   
For online courses, access is provided immediately following purchase. Therefore no cancellations or substitutions will be provided once the purchase is complete.
